Past My Defenses by Wendy Sparrow

All I can say is if I was into girls then I'd totally marry Vanessa I loved her that much. She just has a certain way about her that's pure entertainment, "if you say so." She sounded like a pack-a-day lifetime chain smoker. Real sexy. "Right now, I'm a naked woman in a kennel, hoping you have a couple of allergy pills and a shirt that furry spawn of Satan hasn't touched." The thoughts Dane had about her were funny as hell, "her snores stopped suddenly, and it stopped his heart. She was okay, right? He'd do mouth-to-mouth with no complaints, but if she wasn't okay, did she need a vet or a doctor?" I loved Dane's patient side you would think that he'd be freaking out with the situations this boy is put in but nope, the boy is calm as a cucumber, "Vanessa, I'm not an idiot. I know what I saw, and I know it's you." He held up his hands to show they were empty. "Look. Come inside. I'll make dinner." He pulled his shirt off and dropped it on the porch. "See, you can even dress for it." He grabbed the gun by the barrel and backed away. "I'll go inside." And I applaud him for trying to bring humor to a situation that isn't so humorous, "well, that's your problem right there - you brought a knife to what will be a gunfight. Well, and I think your Alpha intends to gnaw them or something." I honestly can't wait to see more from this author.
