If you could have done anything different in the course of events that took place what would you have done?
Hmmm … I suppose I would have grabbed Adela away from Max when I first saw her standing alone among the chaos and destruction after the earthquake at school. I also would have stayed the hell out of the burning debris that was my house.
When did you first realize you could communicate with animals?
Um … I think it was when everyone started making fun of me. I didn't realize it was anything freakish until then. I remember thinking, why are they making fun of me, can’t everybody do that?
Do you consider it as a gift or a curse? At first, I thought it was cool. But then when the kids started calling me a freak and not wanting to associate with me, I figured I’d been cursed. Later though, it came in handy when ranchers started hiring me to soothe their horses, so then it was a gift that gave me extra cash.
What do you think of Max? Ah, Max can be a jerk, no question about it. But I know somewhere deep down under that thick skull of his, there lies a decent human being. It’s gonna take some prying, but maybe someday and with a whole lotta luck he will emerge.
What do you think caused these earthquakes? Um… Seriously? I haven’t got a clue. Cooper did some research, but I don’t remember him saying what caused them.
Do you think they're a blessing in disguise as it helped you get closer to Adela?Possibly. But I believe in fate and I think with time, I would have gotten to know her anyway.
How did you take all the teasing other students gave you about your gift? It was hard when I was younger. Especially since Max wasn't my friend anymore. But I got used to it, used to not having any friends that is. I guess I’m pretty much a loner anyway.
How awkward was it to have Max help you with your pants? I mean if it was me I'd be extremely embarrassed. Hey, a guy’s gotta do what a guy’s gotta do. I would have preferred to have had Adela’s help, but I knew that was out of the question.
Where do you see your future leading in the next 5 years? Do you see it with Adela? I can only dream and hope that I would be with Adela. I’d like to finish high school. Maybe go to college if I could get a scholarship. I think I’d like to be veterinarian. It seems like the most logical profession for me.
