Sometimes Nic and Lizzie's relationship needs, well actually all the time they need communication, "she nodded. "I wanted you to call." She'd been devastated when he hadn't and furious with herself for being devastated." Nic slowly learns Lizzie is different from other women and that she is a keeper, "Nic blinked. This wasn't a false protest. She really didn't want him to spend money on her. He'd never met anyone like Lizzie before." Lizzie and Nic don't eat meat, but fish well unless Lizzie sees the eyes of said fish she won't eat it:
"It's not dinner if I see his face, Nic. Throw him back."
He opened his mouth to protest.
"Now. Throw him back."
The fish hit the water with a small splash and swam off.
We know who wears the pants in the relationship people. I enjoyed this book. I liked it a lot Lizzie and Nic had a lot to learn about each other and it was a great journey to see them take.
