Blindness by Ginger Scott

I fell in love with Cody instantly, "here," he says, writing something on a small notecard, and then tossing it through my window onto the passenger seat. "My number. Give me a call...you know...if you need more help with calculus. Or...just give me a call." A little surprise brings Cody and Charlie together and personally I don't think Cody is happy about that or that he needs to explain what's going on, "Shelly's my mom. She married Jim after my dad died. Trevor's my stepbrother. There, now you're all caught up," he says, standing and throwing his napkin on the table. He heads to the opposite hall, leaving his family in the kitchen." I don't think either of these two will know what to do if a natural disaster ever hit, "slow down!" he's shouting at me. Why is he yelling? "Hold still, damn it. You're burned; let me see it for a sec." And he's so caring, "Charlie, what's wrong? Did I hurt you?" Cody says, inspecting my face, touching me tenderly."
