I was so happy to read this book because one, I love this series, and two it's a great background novella on some of the characters, like Jane and Stephen (Emma's Grandma and Grandpa) and Samuel and Alaine (Emma's real parents.) The book is told in different points of views so we don't miss nothing. Who knew that Angels were so romantic, "yesterday, I was your lover. Today, I am your savior," he said with a sad sort of grin. "I'm sorry I've put you in so much danger. I didn't mean for this to happen to you, but I have vowed, as long as I have breath, to make certain of your safety and the safety of our child." (this would be Stephen talking to Jane about Alaine.) Alaine and Samuel knew the risks of being together but, Alaine was hell bent on doing so no matter what and that takes courage, "I wanted to be with him, and even though the stakes were high, I was willing to risk it all." Lucian was just an a** in this book, "don't you know that breeding with the mortal insects is forbidden?" That wasn't very nice. This book ends right where the actual book of 'Hidden Wings' starts. So I suggest for more background information on the series, I would read this book.
