The Darkest Joy by Marata Eros

This book took awhile for me to warm up to but once I did I fell in love with it. Chance he's a man's man, and that boy can do anything and he makes it look sexy, :"I catch sight of Chance and my formerly cool skin heats. I watch his automatic supple movements as he guts fish. You can't think for a moment that a job like that can be sexy, but it's a testimony to Chance that he is...no matter what he's doing." His sense of humor in some situations isn't ideal, "you're fired," I say without a forward though and kneerjerk reacting all over the place. Brooke's face falls, her lower lip trembles. Oh dear baby Jesus. "Brooke," I begin. A slow tear struggles out of her eye and something small in me dies at seeing that tangible bit of sadness. "I was kidding." I'm not. I'll can her a** in a second if that's the stipulation for being with me. In a second. But I don't want her hurt." He does have a jealous issue, "I didn't like the look on Brooke's face when she spoke to her friend and I don't much like the open trust she's showering on Evan. Like he deserves it. Sh** no." He can be a playful naughty boy as well, "did you like that?" he whispers, pressing harder against me and my breath catches."
