I really thought this was a stand alone book, so you could imagine my surprise when I got to the end and saw there was a cliffhanger. Koen he's an interesting character, "Koen Raad was curious. The female sprawled on his snout, and was muttering about him biting her head off whilst stroking him gently. Not a soul had ever touched him so affectionately and with such ease, not even his mother." Dragons have weird customs and their show of affection is strange, "he dropped the doe and looked at Marina. When she did nothing he nudged it towards her with his snout." I think that Koen is getting into his inner feelings thanks to Marina, "I understand you find the dragon easier to talk to, but I would like to come to you as a man." He frowned. "I know it's wrong, and I may seem... unkind, but I like you, Marina." I think I would have liked the book a lot more if there hadn't been a cliffhanger.
