Sometimes it's the simple things kids want and thank goodness Pam was there every step of the way for Dane, "any chance you’ve got Skippy peanut butter for toast in the morning?” His mouth opened, but he said nothing. He lifted his hands, then let them drop. “It’s okay, Dane. We’ll manage." Pam is a little shy and Dane doesn't care who needs him and his girl:
"Someone’s coming!” she hissed. “Maybe I should fall down the stairs. It would explain this.” She gestured to her outfit.
Dane grinned and looked down at his pants. “Wouldn’t explain that, though, would it?"
I liked this book.
