Knight in Highland Armor by Amy Jarecki

In the beginning Colin is a work in progress, "she tried to look him in the eye, but his gaze trailed to the bloody streak on the linens. Her virtue. Gone. "We'll be leaving on the morrow." He's rough around the edges, "no...I mean, aye." Leave it to her to steer him away from the subject at hand. "Dammit, woman. Your safety is my concern. How can I protect you if you're off hiking up your skirts, washing with the commoners?" Other times he's completely sweet on his woman, well once his head got out of his a**, "you want me to kiss you, wife?" He reached for her hand and tugged. "Come here." I did enjoy this book but at times I thought it went on and on like when Colin was at war, it just wouldn't end.
