In the Land of Tea and Ravens by R.K. Ryals

I'm not used to seeing R.K write like this, this book is very different from her other books, there were some parts I had to force myself to read and others I enjoyed very much. Lyric an Grayson do have attraction but with their pasts it's hard for them to act on it and all the judging the other townsfolk did was just awkward, "Lyric's gaze found his. For a long moment, they simply stood with the yard between them, their eyes locked, and a shared guilt tying them together." Grayson I thought he was funny at times, even those times weren't meant to be funny, "Grayson's brows rose. "You don't think so? You tell a man all your female relatives are birds because your family angered some magical person, and you don't think it'd incite my curiosity?" With Grayson you see a different Lyric, almost like a carefree one, "she grinned. "Let me try my hand at this compliment thing." She perused him critically, her dark brows lifted, her eyes trailing his hunched figure. "You look decent when you're wheezing." As I said to me some parts dragged, others moved fast so it was an alright read.
