RELEASE DAY BLITZ/EXCERPT: Cursed by R.K. Ryals

BLURB:
A grimoire. A witch. A Demon.

Ellie Elizabeth Jacobs, often known as Monroe due to her fascination with vintage attire and old movies, is an 18 year-old witch and a darned good one! But there is also something very wrong with her. Demonic energy makes her powers stronger, she has the ability to ward off Demons, and Lucifer wants her.

Sometimes being bad is better. Or at least that's how Luther "Thorne" Craig feels. The hybrid Demon son of the cursed Cain and the Demon Lilith, Luther is reluctantly sent to New Orleans, Louisiana by his brother, the hybrid Demon ruler of the Outer Levels of Hell, to protect Monroe from Lucifer's searching Hellhounds.

But what happens when things go wrong?

In this riveting spin off from R.K. Ryals' Redemption series, Monroe is faced with an old grimoire, an ancient curse, and a journey to discover a family secret that may surprise them all.

EXCERPT:
"Do you even know how to use that?" Luther asked.
My gaze moved to him as I stood, the gun dangling at my side. To be honest, I knew nothing about weapons.
I shrugged. "It's a gun. You just point and shoot, right?" I asked.
Luther shot me a look as I approached him, which was funny really since he looked somewhat ridiculous with a booted foot on Maggie's chest.
I started to lift the gun, and Luther reached over, shaking his head as he grabbed me by the wrist, smoothly pulling the pistol out of my grip, his eyes locked on Maggie's.
"I'll take that," he said. "You with a gun doesn't seem like a very smart idea."
I raised my brows at his insult. "What? You actually have those?" I retorted. "Smart ideas, I mean."
Luther paused, flipping the gun before pressing it back into my palm.
"I've changed my mind. If you shoot yourself, you'll just be saving me the trouble."

BOOK TRAILER:

EXCERPT:

“Open the door, Stanis,” Shade hissed. “We’re through here.”

“Just a minute, princess. I have bone to pick with you.” He tapped the wall and moved so fast, only a blur appeared where he had stood. He was in the kitchen now and pulled out a small, blue glass bowl. Bringing it to her, he held it out toward Shade, pushing her to take it. When she did, he resumed his position on the creaky chair, motioning her to sit back on the couch. “Please, sit.”

“I’d rather stand.”

He groaned, rolling his head on his shoulders, his long brown hair spilled over the back of the chair as he did that. He looked like a drunk slumped in the chair, almost falling off the edge.

“Suite yourself, changeling. But I highly suggest you sit. There are more ways than one to use magic, even bound up as you are.” His wild eyes seemed more sober now and she felt a sudden urge to sit as told. The suspicion she felt that he was using magic on her was eating at her nerves. She hated being played, and he seemed a master at that.

“What do you mean, more ways?” She settled between Soap and Dylan and held the bowl out. It was small enough to fit in her palm.

“This is a Pith. It extracts your essence, therefore, your powers are given a release through this bowl. Even in your case, one’s powers cannot be completely contained, as one can never truly trap a mind. This Pith provides another route, another path for your magic to escape your body and work its powers. We’re only trapped by the binds we allow to be placed upon ourselves. This breaks through that. It will let you use your water magic, as if you’d never been bound.”

The others gasped, staring in wonderment at the ordinary blue glass bowl sitting in her palm. It seemed utterly mundane, no etchings on its hard surface, nothing to condone its powerful use. She wondered if he was pulling her leg or not. But it was worth a try.

“One drop into the bowl, Shade. That’s all it takes.” He gestured quickly, to make her move faster. She gulped, mesmerized by the glass. She silently prayed that it would work, if not, they were doomed. No, she was doomed.

Never Too Far by Abbi Glines

Mother of all that's holy!!! Blaire I love ya girl I do after everything that you've been through you're still ballsy and I love it, "I'm not sure what exactly you think we've been through. We were best friends, then we were a couple, then my momma got sick and you needed you dick sucked so you cheated on me. I took care of my sick momma alone. No one to lean on. Then she died and I moved. I got my heart and world shattered and came home. You're been here for me. I didn't ask you to but you have. I'm thankful for that but it doesn't make all that other stuff go away. It doesn't make up for the fact you deserted me when I needed you the most. So excuse me if when my world is once again about to be jerked out from under me that you aren't the first person I run to. You haven't earned that yet." And Rush that man I love unconditionally, "It's a f***ing miracle she's here. I want her back here, Nan. You may not want to hear this but I love her. I will stop at nothing to make sure she's safe." Talk about a man on a mission ladies! Woods I had my doubts about him in "Fallen Too Far" but the boy proved himself worthy of Blaire's friendship and I love him for that, "If anyone has a problem with Blaire then they need to take it up with me. She has a job here as long as she wants one. The three of you may not like it but personally I don't give a flying f***. So get over it. She doesn't need this shit right now. Back off. Are we understood?" It's nice to see Rush still possessive over Blaire, "These titties are mine, Blaire. I take care of what is mine." I love that man, I was glad I waited because it made reading this book much more of a pleasure! Yeppers only an hour and fifteen minutes it took me to devour it!

Shatter by Amber Garza

Lots of emotions ran through me, we met new characters but as usual I focused more on Delaney and Sam, and a little bit of Micah. "I can't lose, her, Ariel." Emotion rises up in my throat and I turn my face away. "I don't even know who I am without hear. She's always been a part of my life." Well then Micah you shouldn't have been an ass to her then. We meet Jax and he is truly just something else, he brings life to the group in this situation, may be a pain in the ass but he brings back some of the life, "No way man," Jax protests. "I cam here to fight to get Zoe back not sit and around talk. What do I look like? A chick?" Sam that boy I love even more, yes even after everything he's done my feeling don't change, of course he always finds a way to be a smartass even in the up-most situations:
"I need help with my pants," he says with a gleam in his eye.
I yank my arm out of his grasp and narrow my eyes. "You perv."
He chuckles. "Can't blame a guy for trying."
Zoe is also something else, no wonder he and Jax are perfect for each other, they're the same both ballsy. "And what if I'm the queen of freakin' England? We don't have time to play these pointless games. Geez, you're lucky you met me, you need to have a friend who talks some sense into you," There were literally some heart stopping moments in the book, and the cliffhanger wasn't as brutal as Dazzle's (Thank God!) I can't wait to read Betray!

Angel Cuffs by Amanda Heath

This novella may be 16 pages long but let me tell you what I enjoyed all 16! Blu I loved being inside her head, that girl is a tell all, no filter, I don't give a shit kind of girl! "He's got this brownstone house right in the middle of the burbs. I mean where else would a drug dealing, paid killer, douche bag ass live?" You get my meaning her thoughts are her own. Kisten Mr. all alpha on your ass vampire woo baby!! He can light up my life if he wants, "It wasn't a guess, love. I've had you checked out since you know; you're going to kill me." He's not stupid either that vampire is a smart one. He's another that tells it like it is, and what he wants, I love a man like that, "And from now on you're to wear skirts. I can't bloody well f*** you in public with jeans on. Someone might see your girly bits." Did I mention he's English and possessive, "Once we f***, and I bite your neck, you will be mine. You are not allowed to touch another man without my permission." HOT! Of course Blu doesn't like to be called someone's property, "And what the hell is with the 'permission' thing? I'm not his goddamn property." I was getting into the story and then it ended and I cursed Amanda out, I mean I really did I'm like "THERE BETTER BE ANOTHER ONE COMING!" Yes ladies and gents there is another bookie coming in this series, I can't wait to read the next installment!

Cursed by R.K. Ryals

Where to begin? Oh I know how about when Hottie Luther comes into our story, yes I think that's a GREAT place to start, "He was sitting, leaning casually against the counter, one leg propped up, his arm flung across it. His other hand rested against the floor." Yes even his body language says 'Cocky Bastard' I love it!  Then he speaks which makes my case even more, "I'm trying to decide whether or no to remark on your current choice of employment or your delightful choice in underwear," Luther's deep voice drawled." So demon's in R.K. books have this ability to tattoo (mark) you and in the scene where Monroe finds out she's been 'marked' I found it seriously entertaining:
"Um, it's a tattoo of a black serpent curled around a thorny rose."
"A freaking tattoo?" I hissed. "Seriously?"
A tramp stamp. Luther had given me a tramp stamp! The Demon was nothing if not dramatic.
Luther isn't really a bad 'demon' in this book I just don't think he was expecting someone like Monroe to start getting him to fell things. Monroe is a strong willed character she fights Luther every time they turn around, and truly she's starting to fall for the boy, gee I wonder who this reminds us of? (coughDaytonandMarcascough) "That's it?" I asked. "Your fascinated with me?" I laughed. "You would fight your mother for my soul out of fascination?" Yes his mama is back in this book honestly someone needs to kill the b****, my secret hope is Marcas, and Luther will team up and get rid of her once and for all. Did I mention some special people make a re-appearing appearance? No I don't think I did, BUT I can't really say WHO or WHY *winks* as it would give away the surprise!

Unbroken by Jenny Phillips

Well we meet Chase's older brother Jackson in this book, I must say I like him, but I like Chase more. He seems like a cool guy (keyword people seems!) The first meeting between him and Morgan is funny:
"I swear I'm a cool guy." He held his hands up playfully.
"I'm sure you are," I said.
"No really, let's go do something. I'll prove it. Maybe earn your trust?" he bargained. "Oh! It's not that! I don't know you-"
                                         "Exactly!"
We see Nolan grow some balls in this book I must say I'm really impressed with that, just not maybe how he came to grow those balls, "Fair? You used me as your own personal punching bag. You used me to get over Chase, didn't you?" He never gave me a chance to answer. "Then you just toss me, for him." He nodded in the direction Jackson had just gone. "His brother!" He shook his head. "And you'll use him too because you can't have what you want. You'll just keep stepping on people to get closer and closer to it! He's not Chase, and eventually you'll realize that! But I've finally figured it out and you won't use me anymore. I'm done with this!" To say the least I don't think Nolan was very happy with Morgan. Oh but I loved Chase even though I thought he was a total ass, then he swooped in when something goes wrong and becomes the Knight in shinning armor! The passion between Morgan and Chase is still there which I loved, "I answered him with a kiss and he sat up, leaning on his elbows, to deepen the kiss. Taking advantage of my weakness, he distracted me. Before I had time to react, he had me flat on my back, never even pulling me away from our kiss." He's still the sweet boy I loved from book one and truly I don't think I'll ever stop loving the boy, "Well, I should've at least taken you to," he paused awkwardly, "the bedroom." He looked embarrassed. "And locked the door," he threw in."  The cliffhanger wasn't as earth shattering as book one so I can now patiently wait for book three (who the hell am I kidding I can never wait patiently for a book)

The is No Light in Darkness by Claire Contreras

Cole makes this book, like seriously there is no ifs, ands, or buts about it. He is Oh My God is what he is! He is totally something else, that mouth of his is seriously going to get him into trouble one day, "Just know that I'll be thinking very naughty thoughts and doing very naughty things to myself while I picture you naked and wet." The chemistry between Blake and Cole I love, I love their bantering I just plain love them. She puts up with all his crap and even though the girl doesn't want to admit it she really does love him otherwise why put up with all his crap haha:
"Are you really dripping wet and wearing a tiny white towel?" he asks in a raspy low voice.
"Yes, I just got out of the shower."
"Good," he exhales into the line. "At least I don't have this raging hard-on for no reason."
Aubry that boy is something else he was another character I fell in love with, you can tell that both him and Blake have a special (no it's not sexual) relationship and that they'll always be there for one another, and the things that come out of his mouth are just as amusing as the things that come out of Cole's. "That girl takes for-f***ing-ever to get dressed. Every single time," Aubry replies, looking up from his newspaper and whistles. "Damn, you look hot!" Cole honestly I want a man like him even with all the girls that boy goes through it's still Blake he loves and cares about no one else, "I don't give a f*** what other girls say. You're the only one that matters." What the EFF was up with that ending, honestly I didn't realize it was a series until I got to the ending and then Claire telling me about it GRRRR. The girl better hurry it up with the next book!

Auracle by Gina Rosati

Even though the story is about Anna I love Seth he's just I don't he's like me in some insane sort of way, "If Taylor took the time to know Seth, she would realize he's a complicated guy with unresolved anger issues, according to the school psychologist, or as Seth calls him, That Douchebag." Anna I loved as well with her quirky remarks, "I'm going all out and making canned soup," I tell him. "Because the he can just drink his damn dinner." I love being in Anna's mind especially on a certain subject, "...This is Rei you're thinking about: your neighbor and best friend since the beginning of time. Why do you care if he's wearing a shirt? You're not checking him out, are you? Seriously! How would you feel if you thought he was checking you out? Well, actually, I'd feel kind of flattered." Taylor is such a bitch! Oh my God! "This is fugly, this sucks, absolutely hideous, wouldn't be caught dead wearing this." Rei I loved that boy to bits as well, "At church with a backpack full of vodka and condoms," he smirks. "I'm sorry that's just..." he shakes his head. "Never mind." I mean seriously some of the things he says are funny to me, even if they're meant to be sincere, "I care." He lowers his voice. "Just because I don't want you to unbutton my pants doesn't mean I don't care." The conversations between Rei and Anna are also seriously entertaining:
"No, but she pierced my belly button. I discovered that when I went to the bathroom."
Rei grins. "Do you need to get that out, too?"
"Um, no. Actually, I thought I'd leave that one in."
                               Rei stops mid-earring. "Really?"
                               I grin at him. "Kidding."
"Oh. Not that you couldn't leave it in. I mean..."
This book is a page turner that keeps you guessing until the last minute and I loved it!

Misguided Heart by Amanda Bennett

When I first laid eyes on the cover I knew I had to read this book, I mean just look at hit, it's really HOT! Then I read the blurb and the excerpts and my mind was totally made up THIS WAS A MUST READ! Not to mention Sloan has a tattoo and my weakness for men and tattoos is well my weakness. Sloan I fell in love with right off, I loved hearing things from his point of view to me his thoughts are truly entertaining, "Unfortunately, it was frowned upon to drink at seven in the morning, so I had to settle for coffee." The boy is an ass man or he's just always horny, but I think it's Aston's ass, "After she gave me the grad tour, which I watched her ass more than anything..." Aston brings out frustrations in Sloan which I find his thoughts on this seriously humorous, "I had never had a woman say no to me, why would she be any different? I didn't expect her to say yes lightly, but I guess I had underestimated her ability to see through my cocky bullshit. Damn, she was such an infuriating woman." When Aston is drunk things that come out of her mouth are plain amusing, "Darren I'm not trying to argue with you, or be a b**** to you, I know I did wrong in our relationship with how I left it, but it's not like you were Mother f***ing Theresa," oops, and here comes the b****! Look out ladies and gentlemen; this ride is about to get bumpy. "I may have left you without an explanation, but at least I didn't run off and get f***ing married." Sloan also has a sweet side which kind of was shocking to see since the man is as cocky as they come, "You look absolutely stunning. Don't ever thing any different. I'm pretty sure you're the most beautiful woman here. Now stop fidgeting." I can't wait to see what Amanda comes up with next, I'm sure it'll be a MUST READ like this one was!

Awakened by Inger Iversen

Inger has obviously figured out my weakness (no it's not for vampires) but for hot shirtless men, you have one on your cover you bet your arse I'll read your book! So if you haven't read the first book "Few Are Angels" and haven't read my read my review about it then you obviously don't know how much I love Kale, and I probably love him more in this book, because DANG the man is on a mission. He's also more temperamental in this book and with good reason, and it saddens me to say this but well I enjoyed it, I've never seen someone be as moody as him and it was fun to read about:
"Or maybe I want to send you back to Laurent with a message."
"Do I look like some errand boy to you?" The bald man stepped from the shadows. Anger marred his face.
"You telling me that you aren't Laurent's whipping boy?"
I just love Kale in general people, there really isn't a reason why the words that come out of his mouth amuse me, turn me, and leave me wanting more, "I'm good. Luckily I'm chory, and I don't have to worry about freezing me 'nads off. Maybe we could hurry this up? I'd like to get this show on the road sometime tonight." Laurent though didn't like him in book one sure as hell hated him in book two he's such a total ASS! "Laurent called his name. "If anyone other than me enters that room, end them." Like seriously man get over yourself! I loved when Elle and Kale were together they had so much playfulness and it made me happy (yes I'm a sappy person who likes butterflies and roses and romance) "This is very inappropriate, Kale," I said with a smile. With his own sly grin, Kale lifted himself all the way up and stood beside the bed. He held his hand out to me." The best thing about this book (well besides the plot) was the fact that there were perspectives from all the characters (well except Laurent's point of view I could care less about that ass anyway) and I like books who have more then one point of view of a character it allows us inside their head.

EXCERPT:

Ella

It was our last night together before I went back to Sarah and Eric, and Kale and I snuggled on the bed in our pajamas. His scent was strong and crisp.
“How do you feel about the plan, Ella?” he asked.
I nuzzled his chest, refusing to answer. We’d talked about the plan well into the night, and now all I wanted was to be with Kale, without the interruption of our lives.
“Hey,” Kale said softly. He pulled my head from his chest and stared into my eyes.
My heart sped up so fast that I lost my breath, and Kale’s eyes took on a hooded stare.
“May I kiss you again?” His lips, soft and full, were on mine before I had a chance to answer. Kale completely dominated the kiss. His hand left my hair and traced a warm path down my side.
He pulled back slightly, then kissed my cheek and slid his mouth to my ear. “You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do,” he whispered, kissing the outer shell of my ear.
I quivered in response. There were so many things that I wanted from Kale, but this was still something I wasn’t ready for. I knew that I was falling in love with him, and that I wanted him to be my first, but it wasn’t the time. I was about to go through so much emotionally with Alex’s parents, and I didn’t want that to interfere with a special moment like this.
“I just want to keep kissing you, Kale.” I threaded my fingers through his. “I won’t see you for three or four weeks, and I really want to enjoy this time with you now.” I smiled as I thought of those three weeks without him.
“Hey,” Kale kissed my chin. “It’ll be okay. I’ll be here when you get back, and then we’ll figure out our future together.” He pulled me closer to his side. I could barely breathe, but that was all right.
“What’s to figure out?” I asked. “We are going to be together and live happily ever after.” I smiled. As silly as the childish comment sounded, I was actually looking forward to a happily ever after or something similar. I knew our lives would be nothing close to normal, but I was willing to live that kind of life if it meant being with Kale.
He rolled over and placed his hands behind his head. “There is more than just that, but luckily, we have more than enough time to figure it out.” Kale didn’t sound completely convinced.
Something in his voice made me prop myself on my elbow to see him in the moonlight that shone through the window.
“What is it that you are worried about, Kale?”
A knock on the door saved him from having to answer me. He jumped off the bed and headed to the door. I glanced at the clock. Who would be at the door at two a.m., and why?
Kale pulled the door open a crack, just enough for him to see and not me.
“Hey, man, you got a second?” I heard Deacon ask.
Kale looked back at me. “I’ll just be a second.” He went out and shut the door tight behind him.
I resisted the urge to go see what was going on. I trusted that Kale would tell me about it. We were past the protective lies and headed into a relationship where we could both depend on each other for honesty.

Blog Tour Review: The Road that Leads to Home by Jaimie Hope

I liked this book a lot, it brought out emotions I like to try and keep hidden. I felt like I was going through the emotions Sara was going through when she went through them, when she was upset I was upset, when she got mad I got mad. "No concern of mine? I moved and have a separate life I'm no longer part of the family?" Sometimes it takes something horrible to happen to bring a family back together, I think that's what this book is about mending a broken family. Oh be still my heart, James is either a hopeless romantic or truly in love, "I'm sorry I made you cry," he said. "I'm not sorry about what I said though. I think you should stay your family needs you, and so do I." Really wasn't expecting something to happen in the book and it truly broke my heart. I also hope there will be a second book to come as there are still a lot of unanswered questions.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW: Games of Fire by Airicka Phoenix

"His lips curled into a dark grin, "Oh I'm not going anywhere, baby!" he practically purred before his mouth crashed down on hers."
So While reading "Games of Fire" I was talking to Airicka and I was curious as to who she pictured as Spencer, and well this is the pic she game me although he doesn't have ALL of Spencer's tats Alex Pettyfer is who she pictures as Spencer, (couldn't have chose better myself!)

First off let me be clear I love Airicka and all her writings, but so far this is her best work in my opinion. In each book she publishes you see her writing grow more and more, it's like watching your child grow into an adult. Now onto the review itself, which had a lot of notes and things highlighted on my kindle for it lol. I first fell in love with Sophie while her and her mom were talking, "We should go over," her mother said decidedly. "I have a casserole in the freezer we can take. It'll be nice." What her mother really meant was let's make sure our new neighbors aren't serial killers or worse, salesmen." Fell in love with Spencer right off, with just a description of him, "A silver chain with dog tags on the end dangled down the center of his chest, drawing attention to washboard abs and the carved V disappearing into the wasteband of his unfastened jeans." And first interaction between Sophie and Spencer is honestly nothing normal which I loved, "Kidder is not the word I would use," Sophie bit out, matching Spencer's gaze unflinchingly. "Jackass comes to mind. Asshat. Pr-" Then there was this part of the interaction that made me giddy:
...all her attention melted down to where he was touching her. His fingers. His thighs. His heat. His eyes.
Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!
"I can show you more if you like what you see," he said in a whisper just for her ears.
Also Sophie loves her man and has a temper, "No, no! You don't get to speak. You're going to listen. This." She gestured up and down to all of him." Does nothing for me. You do nothing for me. In fact, you ever think about hitting on me again, I'll dropkick you back to Aimee. Yeah, remember her? Your girlfriend? So if you're smart you're going to get your creep self out of my face...I'm Spencer's I pick Spencer. I will always pick Spencer..." I really thought the book ended to soon, like it ended abruptly, I want more of Spencer!

Coexist by Julia Crane

Rourk how I love thee, and your thoughts, "Why do I do this to myself? I shouldn't eve be here. She's killing me. I have no self-control." Even though I'm sure this comment wasn't meant to sound kinky I kind of found it to be lol, (yes I'm weird) "Silently he advanced. He was the hunter and she, his prey." Rourk is VERY possessive about Keegan, I found it very manly of him, "He leaned down and whispered in his ear, "she is mine." My heart went pitter-patter when they first kissed it was sweet and it wasn't over the top which I liked, "She felt his fingers trace the side of her face. She looked up into his grey eyes as he leaned down and kissed her." I wasn't impressed with the ending mostly because it's not something I saw coming or expecting. I'm going to need to read the rest of the series because this girl is addicted!

Twisted & Distorted by Jenny Phillips

I liked Gianna the girl has a fire to her, "Look if you can't remember what happened in the woods you're lucky! Why try to dredge up bad memories?" She shook her head. "Honestly, you wouldn't believe me if I told you anyway!" I think she at times maybe perhaps, just a little, has to much fire in her, I mean if the girl wanted she could rip your heart out and feed it to the wolves, "Look Hunter, I don't know you anymore; you don't owe me anything. You're not bound to me by some childhood code. Let's just both move on with our lives." Hunter I adored in some situations like this one, "I'm glad you're giving me a second chance," Gianna smiled, but he didn't look up from her hair. "I'm glad to hear there weren't any boyfriends too." Then there were other times I wanted to hit him side the head:
"You just watched while he humiliated me," she spat the words like venom and spun on her heels heading home.
"Gianna!" Hunter started after her again.
"Just go back with all the other jock douche bags, that's where you're wanted."
Then once again there were the times I adores him, "Oh, don't play stupid look at you! That boy's following you around ready to rip off the head of the first guy who talks to you." I'm not sure if I'm Team Hunter yet, let's see if the second book can persuade me.

Hunter is such a good boyfriend,"Yeah, but I skipped. I wanted to make sure you were okay. And I figured you could use some help." I  mean a REALLY really good boyfriend, "No, you're not. You're probably the strongest person I know, G. That's why everyone is trying to help. You don't have to be strong all the time." Even though the situation isn't funny, to me it kind of was (I know I have a weird sense of humor what can I say.)
                    "G, it's me."
Her stomach dropped when she realized she had lashed out at Hunter.
"I guess you don't need as much protecting as I thought," he said while releasing her and rubbing his shin.
The way it ended I think we'll see more of Hunter and Gianna again. Still not sure if I'm team Hunter, think I'm still team Chase from "Gifted"

Drowning in Fire by Arielle Caldwell

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!

Even though Ahlic is an asshat I do love the conversations he and Nerita have:
"I will do as you ask on one condition. I won't run off or try." I stared up at him.
"Please tell me your...condition." He was mocking me.
"I want to know more about you; how you became so f***ed up in the head."
Gavan I loved getting in his head and his thoughts "...and I wanted to take her right there, right then. Damn it, Shurni! I rolled my eyes and glanced at him." The things he says and does amuses me (most of the time) "If you're going to backtalk, I'll just have to do it another way." He pinched my behind, making me squeal out." I love how blunt Nerita is, "We can't do that again until after Eurona. You'll take all my energy away. I'm sore but I can walk." Even though Ahlic is still truly an asshat throughout the books I have to give him props for trying to change, but I still hate him, "No, but I'm trying a different approach. Scaring you shitless didn't do anything, work with me, okay?" Nerita is one of those girls who you think bottles things up, but nope the woman has a temper on her especially when the subject is Gavan, "No! He let me walk away! He let me leave! He didn't come after me! All I ever was to anyone was a definite way to defeat Ahlic, no one cared about me personally! Please leave now. I don't want Ahlic to come in and kill you." That damn cliffhanger what the hell was up with that!!

COVER REVEAL/EXCERPT: Gravitational Pull by Marissa Carmel

EXPECTED RELEASE DATE: April 4th, 2013
GENRE: New Adult Paranormal Romance
BLURB:

Touch me, and bring me to life...

How do you move on when you don’t even know where you were going in the first place?

The Spirit Stalker is dead and I have finally started to erect my life. But I quickly discover, that just because the structure is built doesn’t mean the foundation is sturdy. As much as I try to manage my abilities, I can’t completely control them. The physical impossibility of the relationship I have with Justice has reached a boiling point; our fundamental problem is my inability to control myself from absorbing his power, and his fears of touching me because of it.

As if that wasn’t deal-breaker enough, a new threat looms on my horizon - Darklings.

They are grim reapers of the immortal world who surface every five-hundred-years to feed off the souls of magical beings who are weak, aimless, lost; those who have given up and want to move on.

They also hunt power. Which means, they’re hunting me.

Abandoned by the one person I need the most, I find myself in Melenia’s realm.  There, I’m courted by Siberian, a dangerous pixie who covets me, hunted by Death personified; all the while hiding my powers and my ancient bloodline. The pixie prince is alluring, and I feel so broken and vulnerable. I know giving in to him means giving myself over to him. But right now, I don’t care. All I want is to feel anything other than the loss and rejection Justice left me with.

Anything other than pain.

So what do I do when I’m scared to be touched, even though I know it’s the only way to bring my soul back to life?

EXCERPT:

We land right outside the gates of Keelin Castle. Extinguishing ourselves, we descend on the palace.
Walking authoritatively, we make our way down the nave-like hallway of the castle to the huge, golden double doors at the end. The throne room.
“Are you sure that’s where she’ll be?” Derrin asks snidely. “She might be waiting in her chambers for you.”
“Well if she is, she’ll be waiting a while.”
“It could be a good way to get some of your frustrations out,” he says boorishly.
“There’s more than one way to release frustration,” I threaten him.
“Bring it, bitch,” he grabs his crotch, not intimidated at all.
Asshole.
I push open the throne room doors, and as expected, we see the pixie queen perched on her throne waiting for us.
Emery surveys us as we approach. Both Derrin and I give a small nod in due respect as we reach her, but don’t be deceived, we are the supreme strata.
“Your little human has caused quite a stir,” she says evenly, but I can see the danger flashing in her eyes.
“She was the one who was attacked,” I quickly defend Liv.
“Was she? Or did she bring it on herself?”
My look becomes more intense. “What are you talking about?”
“My brother has taken quite a liking to her you know,” Emery says randomly.
Yes, I’ve noticed.
“If your brother knows what’s best for him, he will disappear from her life,” I say through clenched teeth.
Or I’ll remove him myself.
Emery’s eyes become razor sharp at my comment - she’s realized something. She slips off her throne and stalks down the three slate stairs to the floor where Derrin and I are standing. Like Liv, she is tiny, with long hair blacker than night and almond eyes just like Melenia’s.
“What is so special about this human?” she looks up at me, searing the question straight into my soul.
“Nothing,” I snap, but Emery knows me. She sees right through my lies.
“Then it will be nothing if I send the royal guard to take care of her, and rid my land of such contaminants.”
“Do it, and I will burn this entire realm to the ground,” I growl.
Her eyes grow a little wider, but she doesn’t back down from my glare.
“You love her.”
“No.”
“You deny it?”
“Yes.”
No.
“You loved me once,” she says vulnerably.
“What we had was never love,” I bite, “just sex.”
Ouch. That was harsh, even for me.
Emery’s eyebrows crease, and I know I have hurt her deeply.
It’s not a lie, I never loved her. We did have an intense physical relationship that included some emotion, but it’s incomparable to what I have with Liv.
She backs away from me, shifting her eyes between me and Derrin.
Derrin clears his throat. “Not to interrupt this lover’s quarrel,” that I highly enjoy watching, he tells me telepathically, “but what exactly did you mean when you said she brought it on herself?”
Emery’s full attention falls upon Derrin.
“Siberian didn’t give me all the details, but apparently she used her powers on him, and what she did, he described only as provocative.”
I clench my jaw. Provocative?
Images of Liv and Siberian reel through my head. What did she do to him? What did he do to her?
The thought makes me furious.
I’ve damaged us so badly; she turned to a threat more dangerous than the Darklings. And the only thing I can do about it is blame myself.
“So, is she in trouble?” Derrin goes on. “Is there anything we need to be aware of?” he hints. “Besides you sending the royal guard and Siberian?”
Emery contemplates Derrin’s questions for a short second. “Besides Darklings, what else should there be?” She looks over at me as I stand there still-stocked, trying not to give away the anger boiling over in my chest at the thought of Liv and Siberian.
“Who is this girl, exactly?” she pries deeper now, and I know we are heading into hazardous territory.
“She’s no one you have to be concerned about,” I dodge the question. “We just need to know if you’ve caught wind of any unusual uprisings?”
She is simultaneously lost and absolutely intrigued as she stares at me decisively. “No, nothing.”
I nod, and release an almost nonexistent sigh of relief.
“Do I have your word she won’t be harmed while she’s in Devonshire?” I phrase it as a question, but she understands my query is so much more than that. It’s a threat.
She nods her displeasure with a small, irritated frown.
We’ve collected the information we came for, and I’ve had enough of Emery’s probing stares. Surrendering to the ever-present pull drawing me back to Liv, and preparing for the shit-storm I’m sure awaits me once I see her, I turn to leave.
“What should I tell my brother?” Emery calls, taunting me. “He wants her.”
I turn back and glare at her. “Tell him he couldn’t handle her, even if he got her.” Then I slam the throne room door behind me, the sound echoing throughout the castle.
That pixie prick is dead.
